Vintage Shell, Horn & Organic Beads

8mm round. These old beauties are "Made in Japan". They are wafer thin and top quality mother of pearl. The holes are on the edge of the button. You will receive a strand that is almost 6" long with approximately 140 buttons on the strand. These are very old and rare. Check out the enlargement.

8 x 27mm approximate size. These are unusual!

6mm. From Japan. Dobu shell was used for Ladie’s hair combs, knitting needles, fountain pens, and other items held close to the body because the shell had properties that make it feel warm and comfortable. It was immune to static charge. The shell material was scarce though making it expensive.

10mm round with a single hole in the center. This is a flat disc originally produced in the 1920’s for the textile industry for buttons that originally had a metal shank added in the center. These were in their original boxes marked "Made in Japan". Old and naturally beautiful. What nice additions these would make to jewelry designs of today? Hum. . . .

18 x 6.5mm. These are natural in color. Beautifully carved and old. Bone beads were used oh so long ago to adorn. Basically beautiful.

Sizes do vary - approximately 6-25mm diameter. Thicknesses really vary from bead to bead as well. Gotta have these old beauties. Came out of original packaging that says "Made in Taiwan Republic of China". The beads are drilled through the center of the spiral. Well made, unique & rare!!!!

Sizes vary 6-7 x 24-27mm approx. These were in a box stamped "made in Japan". Nice quality in a genuine bone bead. As many of you know from working with bone that new bone beads have a really bad odor. These are so old that there is no smell. These would combine well with some of the vintage natural wood beads that we have.

Sizes range from 8-12mm wide x 14-15mm long, drilled lengthwise. Boy, are these are special! Made in Japan, silky smooth, glossy with pinks and blues in them and a nice weight. Jean thinks they would make excellent buttons for a sweater. We think they could make just about anything better. These are limited!

Width appx 14mm. Appx 49 faux glass based pearls in a variety of sizes & shapes. The baroque style of these pearls is rare to find. These are really really nice. Great luster and quality in old faux pearls. Great shapes too. Check out the enlargement for a full view. Yummy! We have added this item to the Vintage Natural section, even though they are man made. Not trying to confuse just want to have these wonderful old goodies noticed.
