This super strong, flexible, pre-waxed braided bead thread incorporates new technology. One of the strongest fiber cords per diameter ever created. An awl is a beading tool shaped very much like a darning needle. In fact, you could use it as that too! An awl is used to help slide a knot into place when knotting between your beads. It can also help knotting down into the cup of a bead tip. It is very difficult to coax a knot to fit snugly into position. Without the aid of the awl the task can be nearly impossible.
